As our orchard continues to grow, so do our needs to manage this growth. We are currently seeking a Horticulturist / Orchard Manager to manage our orchards. Using advanced IPM Protocol and EcoApple certification, this position will manage the orchard daily to ensure the health of our trees. Everything from pruning, planting, fertilizing, spraying, thinning, harvesting and storage falls under this position.

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday. On rare occasions, some weekends or longer days might be necessary.

Job Description:

  • Oversee advanced IPM scouting, analysis of the result and a planned action.
  • Ensure overall health of fruit trees adhering to EcoApple standards.
  • Monitor weather and manage the orchard accordingly.
  • Communicate quality and productivity expectations for management and staff.
  • Evaluate and implement changes to improve quality and productivity.
  • Adhere to and report GAP, GMP, EcoApple and organic standards to ensure certifications are maintained.
  • Maintain proper records and reporting of key data.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and schedule staff under the department.
  • Plan and lead orchard tours and workshops.
  • Implement cutting edge modern orchard practices, techniques, and equipment.
  • Oversee all irrigation and drainage work/operation.
  • Manage all ground maintenance (mowing, mulching, etc) and assign to crews.
  • Attend various annual conferences such as Cornell University, IFTA annual conferences and EcoApple meetings.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Agricultural focused) with 3+ years of experience.
  • A solid background in working in the horticultural industry.
  • Must possess a high level of practical orchard operations, entomology, and tree fruit knowledge.
  • Must be self-motivated, enjoy teaching and leading, and thrive in an outdoor environment.

The Bakery Lead oversees and ensures that we are providing top notch apple baked goods to our clients and customers. The ability to make sure that the farm market is well stocked with apple pies, turnovers and other homemade seasonal food items is essential. This position is responsible for supervision and scheduling of Bakery, Provisions, Donut and Slicing employees.

This is a full-time position and working days are: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Job Description:

  • Oversee all employees in the bakery, provisions, donuts, and slicing areas.
  • Provide quality goods to clients and trouble shoot any issues with baking practices.
  • Train all staff on the correct procedures, food practices, and cleaning protocols.
  • Coordinate with the Food Safety Manager and Human Resource Manager to ensure that all employees are current with required training and certifications.
  • Manage staff schedules in conjunction with the Production Operations Manager.
  • Monitor product quality standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Bakery, Donut, Provisions and slicing staff; ensuring that company recipes are followed.
  • Ensure Food Safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained completing all required Food safety records as required.
  • Ensure that all federal, state and company regulations and standards for product freshness, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety and refrigeration are met.
  • Maintain appropriate level of inventory for all ingredients, packaging, and labels for bakery, donuts, value-added, and slicing products.
  • Coordinate with product vendors to arrange purchase and delivery of inventory.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Farm Market staff to plan and organize food for events.
  • Observe Health & Safety regulations, promptly reporting any safety issues to the HR Manager.

We are currently hiring for a full time Bakery Associate to work in our orchard bakery. We provide baked goods for wholesale and retail. This position is for a production bakery environment baking pies, turnovers, donuts and various value added products. This is a year-round full-time position. Schedule will vary based on seasonal demands and events.

Job Description:

  • Donuts produced on a donut machine and is labor intensive.
  • Assist with monitoring product quality standards.
  • Ensure Food Safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained completing all required Food safety records as required.
  • Ensure that all federal, state and company regulations and standards for product freshness, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety and refrigeration are met.

  • Follow route and time schedule
  • Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate delivery vehicle
  • Deliver orders to customers on assigned routes

  • Valid Class CDL Class B or A
